This February, all are invited to join UW Athletics in celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the following virtual events. Join meaningful conversations and get to know some of the UW Athletics women players. You can even submit a personal message to display during UW Athletics events on the Alaska Airlines Arena jumbotrom! Although we can’t wait to get back in the stands, we can still build community virtually as we watch from home.

February 3, 2021, marks the 35th Annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). Every year, this celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we recognize the importance of staying mentally and physically healthy during challenging times. Whether virtual or other, we invite you to safely celebrate NGWSD in your community and to join the Women’s Sports Foundation as we Lead Her Forward in 2021.

The Empowering Conversations Panel includes the following female leaders in athletics: University of Washington (UW) Athletic Director – Jen Cohen; UW Deputy Athletics Director & Senior Woman Administrator – Erin O’Connell; UW Associate Athletic Director, Advancement – Shannon Kelly; UW women’s basketball head coach – Jody Wynn; UW beach volleyball student-athlete, WASSAC president and Pac12 DiSAAC representative – Natalie Robinson and Sports Broadcaster at Pac-12 Networks, IMG Sports Network, and Seattle Storm – Elise Woodward. These guests will participate in a Q&A and will share their personal experiences on how sport has created a significant impact in their lives growing up and throughout their careers. You will get the chance to ask your questions during the panel as well.
