Turn the dog days of summer into Dawg days this August with a month full of wellness events and activities through The Whole U. Continue the UW Summer Olympics Challenge with an eclectic array of offerings. Stretch your distance ambitions with UW Endurance Club. Gather your family, friends and animals and strike a pose at UW Photo Day. Get to know the nonprofits in the U District at a lunch & learn. And much more! To paraphrase the wisdom of that iconic, entitled teenage sage of the 1980s, Ferris Bueller, summer moves pretty fast. If you don’t get out and engage once in a while, you might just miss it.


UW Summer Olympics Challenge

Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11

The Olympic Games are a time of unity, celebration and extraordinary athletic achievement. At the UW, we’re bringing that same spirit to our campus community with a fun and engaging Summer Olympics Challenge. Challenge yourself, support your colleagues and celebrate the joy of the games together! And earn your purple rings by meeting daily well-being goals for exercise, nutrition, hydration, mindfulness, connection, and kindness.


Virtual Weight Training with Lauren Updyke

Every Tuesday & Thursday
6:15 – 6:45 a.m. / Zoom
7:15 – 7:45 a.m. / Zoom

Calling all early birds who want to build more muscle into your mornings! Wake up every Tuesday and Thursday with Lauren Updyke for a 30-minute intermediate weight-training class. Each workout covers the total body, focusing on both large and muscle groups and finishing with the core and stretching. All you need is a chair and two sets of weights (between 5 lb. – 25 lb. at least)!


Dance Fitness class with Dalya Perez

Every Tuesday & Thursday
Noon – 1 p.m. / Zoom

Join Dalya Perez for an energizing class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. Reinvigorate your body and mind with a range of dance and workout styles from bootcamp-style jumping jacks and squats to salsa, hip-hop, and meringue. The class is high-energy, and low-pressure. All are welcome, no equipment needed.


Zumba with Karen Cornelio

Join Karen Cornelio for an energizing Zumba class on Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings from. This class is hosted by licensed Zumba instructor Karen Cornelio on Zoom. Zumba takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.


Daily 10-Minute Guided Meditation

This session is designed to help you unwind, refocus, and boost your well-being amidst your busy day. It’s a perfect opportunity to support your well-being goal and connect with colleagues in a meaningful way. Let’s embrace the spirit of unity and excellence by taking a mindful moment each day!


Restorative Yoga Class

Enjoy a midday yoga class with The Whole U in Grieg Garden on Thursday, August 1. Relax under the shady trees, feel the breeze and connect with the earth as our instructor guides you through a revitalizing experience that is suitable for everyone, regardless of their yoga expertise.
