Daily 15 minute movement break

Every Monday – Friday
11 – 11:15 a.m. / Zoom

The Whole U’s Daily Movement Break, which began during remote work in 2020, is way to connect virtually and take a few minutes to informally move together and connect! Whether it’s a yoga, fitness and strength, or guided dance break, each day offers something a little different. All are welcome to join for a fun and light movement break!


Virtual weight training class with Lauren Updyke

Every Tuesday & Thursday
6:15 a.m. – 6:45 a.m. / Zoom

Make time for training with weights and join Lauren Updyke for a 30 minute intermediate class each Tuesday and Thursday at 6:15 a.m. on Zoom. All you need is two sets of weights (at least 5lb – 25lb range) and a chair! This class will include total body and focus on both large and small muscle groups, and will finish with core and stretching.


Flu Shot & COVID-19 Booster Clinics 2024

The Whole U is partnering with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association to offer flu shot and COVID-19 booster vaccine clinics across our campuses this fall.

Registration is required: Find a clinic that works with your schedule and register for an appointment with the Seattle Visiting Nurse Association.

This book presents a compelling case for the benefits of spending time outdoors, highlighting how nature can help children and families become happier, healthier, and more resilient. Packed with nature-based, developmentally appropriate activities, the book addresses common challenges that busy families face when trying to incorporate outdoor time into their routines.


Introduction to TIAA: Get to Know Your Retirement Benefits

Monday, October 7

This session is an introduction to TIAA, one of the retirement plan options available through the University of Washington’s workplace benefits. This session is an excellent opportunity to get a clear understanding of what the plan offers and how it can help you save and invest for your future.


Getting Your Teen Ready for College with UW WorkLife

Tuesday, October 8
Noon – 1 p.m. / Zoom

This session will provide valuable insights into the resources available to Seattle and Washington residents, including financial aid options like the Seattle Promise, which can significantly ease the burden of college expenses.

 


Seasonal Home Maintenance with HomeStreet Bank

This webinar hosted by HomeStreet Bank, is designed to help you stay ahead of your home maintenance needs. You’ll discuss common tasks as you head into fall and winter, like clearing gutters and winterizing outdoor spickets.

Tuesday, October 15
Noon – 1 p.m. / Zoom

All are welcome to join us at a featured webinar with UW Sports Medicine’s Randy Gladwish. Randy is a physical therapist at the UW Sports Medicine Center with over 20 years of experience. This talk will focus on injury prevention, an essential aspect of long-distance running and endurance sports. We will have a special focus on running and walking, but the tips shared will be relevant for all movers and shakers.


Form and Interval RunWalk Clinic

Tuesday, October 15
5:15 – 6 p.m. / Rainier Vista

In this clinic, you will follow a run/walk workout called Fartlek, Swedish for speed play. After a warm-up, the workout will guide you through different speeds, increasing strength and endurance, followed by a cool-down. All levels are welcome!

 


Book Talk: ‘What Your Food Ate’ with David Montgomery

The talk will share how conventional farming practices disrupt the natural relationships between crops and soil, and how regenerative agriculture holds the key to producing more nutrient-dense food, improving our health and addressing chronic diseases. Montgomery’s extensive research highlights why healing the soil is essential to our — and our planet’s — future’s.


10-Week Fall Vinyasa Yoga Series with Amity Neumeister

Friday, October 18 – Friday, December 20
7 – 8 a.m. / Zoom

In this class you are guided through an invigorating yoga flow with continuous and dynamic yoga sequences that benefit your whole being – improving flexibility, muscle, joint and cardiovascular strength, increasing mental clarity and focus, allowing for a harmonious unity of the body, mind, and soul. Deep breathing and meditation techniques are also included for an integrated yoga practice. This class is best suited for those familiar with some yoga.
