ASUW Office of Student Health Relations is honored to host the first-ever UW Student Wellness Week, Tuesday, April 30 to Friday, May 3. During this week students are encouraged to focus on overall well-being. 


Activities Schedule: Tuesday, April 30

 

Virtual Weight Training Class with Lauren Updyke

6:15-6:45 a.m. & 7:15-7:45 a.m. / Zoom

This class  is a total body workout that focuses on both large and small muscle groups. If you have any type of dumbbells’ or weights be sure to have them handy. We will finish with core and stretching. Register to attend! 


Daily Movement Break

11-11:15 a.m. / Zoom

Join The Whole U in our daily movement break.  It is a great way to connect virtually and take a few minutes to move and stretch your body.

Introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. /HUB, Room 334

Join the UW Counseling Center to learn the basics of self-compassion and reflect on what gets in the way. Come find new, practical ways to strengthen self-compassion as a student with mindful self-compassion exercises. Stay in touch with more UW Counseling Center programs by visiting the Counseling Center website and following us on Instagram @uwcounseling. 


Meditation with Sky @ UW Meditation

11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. / HUB Lawn South

Sky@UW is a registered student organization with the goal to bring meditation, breathwork, emotional intelligence, social connection, and service leadership to university students, faculty and staff. We envision a happy and mindful campus community where students, faculty, & staff thrive in life and lead with clarity of mind, resilience, purpose & belonging. Bring your own yoga mat if possible! RSVP to attend.


Bubbles, Chalk and Henna

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. / HUB Patio Tables & HUB Lawn North

Just walking by? Stop for a second for some self-guided fun. We’ll have large bubbles + wands, chalk, and henna provided for anyone who wants to take a break and have a little fun.  

 


Health Resource Tabling

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. / HUB Patio Tables

Learn about health resources on campus! We’ll have representatives from Hall Health, the Whole U, LiveWell, NMDP, Grey Matters Journal, End Overdose, WASHPIRG, Valo Project and the Counseling Center.

 


Come see DUBS!

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. / HUB Lawn North

Our favorite furry friend will be visiting us! Come see DUBS, take some pictures, and give him a high five. A line may form, so try to arrive earlier in the hour to make sure you can get your time with DUBS.

 


Picnic with OSHR

Noon – 2 p.m. / HUB Lawn North

Come sit on the lawn with OSHR and Filipinx Association for Health Careers (FAHC) and have some cheese, crackers, and snacks! Learn about opportunities in our organizations and come relax with some casual conversation and connection.


Friends and Polaroids

1 – 2 p.m. / HUB Lawn North

Capture the moment with a polaroid! It’ll only take a minute. We’ll be taking polaroid pictures of students on the HUB Lawn from 1:00pm-2:00pm. You can take a solo shot, bring friends, or pose with a stranger 😊.


Yoga for Everybody with UW Recreation

12:30 – 1:30 p.m. / HUB Lawn South

Enjoy a movement break with UW Recreation. All students are welcome to join. Find out more about UW Recreation resources and programming by visiting their website and following their Instagram page @uwrecreation.

Be sure to bring your own Yoga Mat if you have one!


Free Play with OSHR

1:30 – 3 p.m. / HUB Lawn South

We’ll set the stage, all you have to do is show up. Come play games with friends and other students on the HUB lawn. Some equipment provided but feel free to bring your own as well.

Grey Matter Brain Dissection

A unique opportunity to observe a live brain dissection! Join the students of Grey Matters Journal for a walk-through of brain structure and function. Grey Matters’ mission is to enhance public understanding of neuroscience, to encourage greater participation in the scientific community, and to develop skilled science communicators.

Therapy Dogs

Stop by for a quick visit with a furry friend. We’ll be hosting a therapy dog at the HUB from 2:00pm-3:00pm May 1st, so come line up and have some cuddles and fun with our guest star: Tara!


Evening Yoga Class with Pranify Yoga

6 – 6:45 p.m. / Zoom

This evening class will offer you space to stretch, move your body and relax your mind. Be sure to virtually join this yoga session – great for participants in all stages of their yoga journey.

Get in The Game

The Whole U and National Marrow Donor Program are partnering to encourage the UW community to join the registry to help cure individuals’ cancer and blood diseases. Help us reach our goal of 500 students and staff registrations!

Nature Walks with OSHR

12:30 – 2:30 p.m. / Meet at the HUB

The university has such beautiful scenery! Come enjoy a peaceful nature walk with OSHR that will take us from the HUB through the UW wetlands, past the Montlake bridge, and through our lovely medicinal gardens before returning to the HUB. Bring sunscreen, sun hats, and snacks! Also, bring a container/bag if you’re interested in foraging along the way.  Register to attend!


Spill the Tea: Tea Time and Hot Takes

4 – 6 p.m. / HUB 145 – This event is for UW Students.

Are you ready for some tea and hot takes! Come to our Queer Tea Party, hosted by OSHR, the Queer Student Commission, and Tea Club. We’ll have tea and snacks together while discussing hot takes and sharing stories on students’ classes and experiences from the academic year.

WASHPIRG Health Resource Fair

2 – 5 p.m. / TBD

WASHPIRG will be hosting a Health Resource Fair for students! Come visit our registered student health organizations and learn about how to get involved in advocacy and access resources on campus.  


Dance Classes & Silent Disco

7 – 9 p.m. / HUB Room 337 – This event is for UW Students.

Come dance the night away with some joyful movement and the OSHR silent disco! We’ll start off with short lessons in a few dance styles and end with a couple of hours of silent disco.
