Heart Health Webinar with UW Medicine Heart Institute 

February 11, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. 

February is American Heart Month, dedicated to raising awareness about heart health and urging us all to take steps to prevent heart disease. Join The Whole U and UW Medicine Heart Institute virtually for a special Zoom session discussing heart health. You’ll hear from cardiologists Dr. Kevin O’Brien and Dr. Ruchi Kapoor as they address the unique warning signs of heart disease and how we can all protect our hearts.

Refinancing & Using Home Equity Webinar

Home values are showing improvement in many neighborhoods, and there are great financing programs that can help lower your payments, change your term, provide cash for home improvements, or pay down consumer debt.

2022 Winter Maker’s Fair

February 23, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 

Come to the Winter Maker’s Fair on the HUB Street (first floor atrium)! Pick up homemade goodies and wares made by members of the UW community. Support more than 30 UW student, faculty, and staff vendors selling their homemade arts and crafts. The Winter Maker’s Fair will sure be a treat as we move into Spring. See you there!


Mexican Tostada Virtual Cooking Class

February 23, 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. 

Cook virtually in your own kitchens alongside UW colleagues as you learn how to make delicious, healthy, traditional Mexican Tostadas!

Along the way, you’ll learn a bit of Spanish and some cultural history about our featured dish.

 


Trauma-Informed Care: Understanding trauma and its impacts in healthcare

February 24, 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Understanding trauma, how it impacts our brain and body, and how to treat patients with traumatic backgrounds is essential for those working in healthcare.

Presenter Cheri Constantino-Shor, Director of Professional Engagement and Nursing Excellence at UW Medicine Northwest Campus, will dive deeply into all this and more.


Social Security: A foundation for planning your future with the SSA

February 25, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 

This popular seminar on social security is presented by Kirk Larson, a Public Affairs Specialist with the Social Security Administration (SSA).

In this virtual seminar, you will learn all about social security and how to collect. Join in to get answers to your burning SSA questions!

 


Barre Class with Barre3 Covington

February 28, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. 

Join The Whole U and Barre3 for an upbeat and refreshing barre class on Zoom. All are welcome regardless of experience levels and modifications will be offered.

Barre3 is a full-body workout that builds toned muscles and increases the metabolism with a signature approach of sustained holds, micro-movements, and cardio bursts.

Every Barre3 class strengthens, tones, and balances the body and mind! 

 


Virtual Weight Training Class with Lauren Updyke

Tuesdays & Thursdays
6:15 a.m. – 6:45 a.m. AND 7:15 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.

Make time for training with weights and join Lauren Updyke for a 30 minute intermediate class each Tuesday and Thursday.

You will need two sets of weights at least (5lb – 25lb range) and a chair. This class will include total body and focus on both large and small muscle groups. We will finish with core and stretching.    

 


Daily 15 Minute Movement Break – Yoga and Fitness

Monday thru Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. 

The Whole U and UW Recreation have teamed up for 2022 and will offer a movement break every day from 11:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. on zoom, giving you a break from the work day, allowing for a harmonious unity of the body, mind and soul.

Monday Guided Meditations

Mondays, 10:00 a.m.

Take a moment before starting your week to re-center, ground, and set your intentions. Join the Whole U every Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. for a 10 minute guided meditation via Zoom focused on self-compassion and mindfulness.

Yoga Anywhere With Diana Ratsamee

Wednesdays, 12:00 p.m.

In this all-levels class, we will move through yoga poses, sequences and breathing exercises that will benefit your whole being – improving flexibility, muscle, joint and cardiovascular strength, increasing mental clarity and focus. 


UW Recycling Trash Art Competition 

March 11, 4:00 p.m. submissions are due

Get creative with the 2022 Trash Art Contest. UW Recycling is looking for creative art and literary works about waste. Open to students, staff and faculty.
