It’s an exciting time at the Henry Art Gallery! Be a part of the University of Washington’s cultural landscape and come check out two new exhibitions: Parallel Practices: Joan Jonas & Gina Pane and The Brink: Anne Fenton.

Henry Art Gallery

Parallel Practices: Joan Jonas & Gina Pane, at the Henry until June 8, brings together a selection of works by two artists renowned for their foundational contributions to the field of performance art. Despite living continents apart, Jonas in New York and Pane in Paris, both created multidisciplinary works at a time when many of their peers focused their attentions on a single medium. Through selections of their sculpture, photography, video, drawing, installation, and performances, Parallel Practices celebrates the shared and complementary aspects of Jonas’ and Pane’s art, and highlights the differences between these unique bodies of work.

And while you’re there, don’t forget to stop by the East Gallery to see The Brink: Anne Fenton, on display until June 15. A Seattle native and UW alumni, Anne Fenton is this year’s recipient of The Brink, a biennial award that spotlights the work of an artist who resides in Washington, Oregon, or British Columbia and is in the early stages of a promising professional career. Fenton takes a collaborative, organic, process-oriented approach to art making. Her work is fresh, bold, and representative of her personal interests and the concerns of her generation. With a BFA in Photography from the UW, we are eager to see what this inspiring young artist will create next!

But that’s not all that’s at the Henry. With extensive collections, guest lecturers, monthly meditation and yoga class, family events and more, there’s always something new! View, listen, learn, and engage in your personal interests at the Henry Art Gallery, free for all UW faculty and staff with your Husky Card.
