As November’s crisp winds arrive we’ve created an exciting lineup of events to help you survive the chilly weather! This month, in celebration of Yoga Month, we’re offering five virtual yoga sessions and a vast inventory of yoga resources. Its not too late to register for UW Yoga Month – Restore in 2024. 

From revitalizing yoga sessions, enriching family health webinars and insightful financial education, we’re here to support your journey toward holistic wellness. Register today for the seasons that work best for you!

Up for a challenge, Huskies? Join the Big Ten’s “We Give Blood” drive — submit your blood donation on behalf of the UW before Dec 6. The Big Ten school with the most blood donations will receive $1 million to support students. Register for a blood drive on campus. Give blood and make a difference!

 

Fostering Collegiality through Understanding Neurodivergence
Monday, November 4
noon – 1:00 p.m. / Zoom

In this virtual Lunch and Learn session hosted by the Professional Staff Organization and the Disability Staff and Faculty Association, folks can join members from the DSFA group to discuss strategies to best support colleagues that identify as neurodivergent and neurodiverse. This discussion will provide insight into the lived experiences of neurodivergent and neurodiverse professionals and how these identities influence work-life and their navigation of the workplace.

There’s No Planet-B: Solutions for a Sustainable Future
Tuesday, November 5
noon – 1:00 p.m. / Zoom

You will hear from three organizations at the forefront of protecting our planet’s most vulnerable ecosystems, species and resources. From bird conservation and whale protection to zero waste initiatives, this event brings together diverse perspectives on how we can take collective action for the future of our environment.

 

 

Gentle Flow Yoga Class with Amity Neumeister
Wednesday, November 6
noon – 1:00 p.m. / Zoom

Seeking the perfect Wednesday lunch break? Join this refreshing virtual yoga class from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6. This Zoom class will guide you through a gentle yoga flow with continuous and dynamic yoga sequences that benefit your whole being. You can expect to improve flexibility, muscle, joint and cardiovascular strength and increase mental clarity and focus, allowing for a harmonious unity of the body, mind and soul.

Join The Whole U and the UW Endurance Club virtually on Thursday, November 7 at noon for an insightful panel discussion featuring Sam Prakel, a professional runner for Adidas and volunteer assistant coach at UW, alongside fellow professional runners.

 

 

Form and Interval Run / Walk Clinic
Tuesday, November 12
4:00 – 4:45 p.m.

Calling all walkers, joggers and runners of every level: enjoy an in-person clinic with running coach Aaliyah Earvin from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12 at Rainier Vista on Seattle campus. In this clinic, you will follow a run/walk workout called Fartlek, Swedish for speed play. After a warm-up, the workout will guide you through different speeds, increasing strength and endurance, followed by a cool-down. All levels are welcome!

 

Gentle Flow Yoga Class with Leah Lowe
Wednesday, November 13
7:00 – 8:00 a.m.

Join Leah Lowe and The Whole U on Wednesday, November 13 from 7 to 8 a.m. for a grounding and slow flow yoga practice that is accessible for all! Enjoy a morning of rejuvenation and self-care among our local UW community. This class will be taught on Zoom, focusing on relaxation.

 

 

Open Enrollment 2025 Information Session

During this Zoom session at noon on Wednesday, November 13, you’ll learn about important changes to Open Enrollment, the annual opportunity for PEBB benefits-eligible employees to enroll in or make changes to their benefits.

Dementia Friends is a global movement changing the way people think, act, and talk about dementia. The UW Memory and Brain Wellness Center is the state lead for the program in Washington state and partners with organizations and volunteers across the state to spread awareness about dementia through free, Dementia Friends Information Sessions.

Volunteer at UW’s Seattle Marathon Water Station
Sunday, December 1
6:30 – 10:30 a.m.

The Whole U and UW Endurance Club invite you to join us as a volunteer at the University of Washington water station. Together, we’ll fuel these inspiring athletes as they pass through our campus on their way to completing 13.1 or 26.2 miles!
