
Spring Well-Being Fairs: Bringing Joy and Care to UW Medicine Hospital Staff
This spring, The Whole U brought wellness to in-patient UW Medicine hospital staff at our annual Well-Being Fairs. This offerings supports and uplifts the hard working hospital staff at UWMC-Montlake, UWMC- Northwest and Harborview Medical Center, encouraging well-being and connection.
The fairs featured The Whole U’s wellness offerings alongside creative activities: DIY aromatherapy sachets, relaxing puzzles and coloring.
Employees had the chance to connect with wellness experts offering support in areas like mental health, nutrition and financial planning. Taking much needed time for respite and resource learning!
The Whole U passed out signature Husky Strong crewnecks to the first 200 people to stop in! Word spread quickly and many units made sure to score gear for their colleagues.
Each fair reached over 300 employees and hosted a variety of interactive tables and wellness partner tables. Thank you to our amazing partners for joining us and supporting well-being!
Washington Employee Assistance Program (WA EAP) hosted a table to share resources including confidential counseling, financial and legal resources.
HMC Spiritual Care and UWMC Spiritual Care reminded attendees about the emotional and spiritual support for patients, families and staff regardless of faith or belief.
HMC Resiliency Committee co-sponsored the HMC Fair, providing a tasty warm tea to attendees. This committee provides experiences to HMC staff for building resilience and managing stress.
HMC Nutrition Services’ Registered dietitians gave expert nutrition tips, including guidance on healthy eating, meal planning and ways to fuel your body for optimal health.
Dream Clinic Massage shared the benefits of therapeutic massage designed to reduce stress, improve circulation and promote relaxation. Dream Clinic offered small massages as a reminder of their on-campus program at HMC.
Washington Arboretum reminded attendees the benefits of connecting with nature and discovering the wellness benefits of spending time outdoors. They shared information about gardens, trails and programs available to help UW staff unwind.
Cascade Forest Therapy shared the many benefits of the practice of forest therapy and how immersing yourself in nature can support mental and physical well-being.
Fidelity Investments reminded attendees about financial education programming for UW employees, including one-on-one check-ins with a Fidelity financial advisor. They answered pressing financial questions.
HMC Employee Health shared the health services available to HMC employees, including immunizations, screenings and wellness programs to support your overall health.
UW Sports Medicine ran an “Ask a PT” station, answering questions about pain, injury prevention and movement. Physical therapists gave expert advice on mobility, ergonomics and exercises to support your health.
Care4U shared resources and support available to help healthcare workers at UWMC manage stress, prevent burnout and prioritize self care.
UW School of Dentistry gave expert dental advice on oral health, hygiene and preventative care from a dental professional. They also handed out dental care kits!
